Fares & Food
Over twenty years ago, in the early months of 1992, Sister Joan Evans of the Western Australian Congregation of Presentation Sisters began her next chapter; life in the Klong Toey slums of Bangkok.
Since then, living alongside thousands of some of Thailand's poorest, she has dedicated her life to helping those in need with everything from food to financial counseling.
On July 3, 2012, a small crowd gathered at her doorstep to request funds for school and other basic necessities.
It's a program Sister Joan calls "Fares and Food", and with it she hopes to allow those seeking an education to reach their dreams and thus, begin to understand their situation in poverty.
